The Oranjemund Town Council is committed to fostering economic growth and improving community well-being through various programs and services. Our Local Economic Development (LED) and Community Services Department supports businesses, promotes sustainable development, and ensures a safe and healthy environment for residents.

Business Fitness Certificates


A Business Fitness Certificate is required for all businesses operating within Oranjemund to ensure compliance with health, safety, and municipal regulations.


  1. Application forms are available at the Town Council offices.
  2. Businesses must meet hygiene, zoning, and operational standards before approval.
  3. Renewal of certificates is required annually.

Outdoor Advertising


Businesses and individuals must obtain permission before installing any signage, billboards, or promotional materials in public spaces.


  1. Applications forms are available at the Town Council offices.
  2. Duly completed application forms must be submitted to the LED office.
  3. Compliance with municipal guidelines is required to maintain town aesthetics.
  4. Annual Fees vary based on advertisement type and duration, as per the Gazetted tariffs.

Sand Mining Permits


The extraction of sand and gravel within Oranjemund is regulated to prevent environmental degradation.


  1. Individuals and companies must apply for a Sand Mining Permit before engaging in any extraction activities.
  2. Unauthorized sand mining is subject to penalties.

Animal Control Services


To ensure public safety and responsible pet ownership, the Town Council regulates domestic and stray animals.


  1. Pet Registration: All dogs and cats must be registered and vaccinated.

  3. Duly completed application forms must be submitted to the Environmental Health Practitioner's office.
  4. Annual Fees as per the Gazetted tariffs.
