Oranjemund Town Council Hosts 1st Community Meeting
Oranjemund, 15 May 2025 – The Oranjemund Town Council (OTC) held a well-attended Community Meeting at the Zachariah Lewala Community Hall, chaired by Deputy Mayor, His Worship Cllr. Sekunda T. Petrus. The meeting focused on capital projects, service delivery updates, and residents’ concerns.
Acting CEO, Mr. Festus Nekayi, presented progress on 11 ongoing capital projects worth over N$169 million, including road upgrades, land servicing, and SME developments. Residents also highlighted priorities such as road maintenance, building control, and electricity services.
Key issues raised in the Q&A session included hospitality regulation, local business empowerment, waste management, Swartkops sanitation, and property damage caused by drainage failures. The Council pledged to strengthen community engagement and enhance monitoring of services.
Deputy Mayor Petrus closed the meeting by reaffirming OTC’s commitment to transparency, service delivery, and partnership with residents for Oranjemund’s sustainable growth.
