Oranjemund Signs MoA for Road Upgrades and Rehabilitation
Windhoek, 27 June 2025 – A significant milestone was reached on Thursday, 26 June 2025, with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Road Fund Administration (RFA), the Oranjemund Town Council (OTC), and the Roads Authority (RA).
The agreement establishes a three-year strategic partnership to upgrade and rehabilitate key roads in Oranjemund, including Airport Road, 7th Avenue, and 11th Avenue. The project aims to improve connectivity, enhance road safety, and contribute to the town’s broader transformation efforts.
Key remarks at the event were delivered by Hon. Surendran Stephanus, MC Chairperson of OTC, Mr. Ali Ipinge, CEO of RFA, and Dr. Conrad Lutombi, CEO of RA. Their messages highlighted the importance of collaboration in infrastructure development and the long-term benefits this project will bring to the community.
The MoA outlines the roles of each institution:
· RFA will provide project funding.
· RA will ensure technical oversight.
· OTC will continue to drive service delivery and local development.
Speaking on behalf of OTC, Acting CEO Mr. Festus Nekayi confirmed that full site investigations, along with preliminary and detailed designs, are underway. A contract for the works is expected to be awarded in September 2025.
